Certifying sustainability: Green Box’s Environmental Product Declaration
Green Box has been awarded the Environmental Product Declaration (EPD), a recognition that supports its commitment to sustainability.
This distinction attests to the low environmental impact of its products throughout their life cycle. The EPD provides verified information on environmental performance, highlighting Green Box’s environmental responsibility in its approach to sustainable production.
What is EPD?
An Environmental Product Declaration is a standardised report verified by an independent external auditor that provides comparable and quantified information on the environmental performance of a product throughout its life cycle based on ISO guidelines.
EPD-certified products are synonymous with quality, safety and credibility when working with a company that is committed to the planet and to a more sustainable system.
Scope of the certificate
Green Box presents 3 sustainable packaging formats: G50 (80Kg), G70(120Kg) and G100 (180/220 kg). They have been analysed on an individual basis taking into account all GreenBox assembly centres and partners, both nationally and internationally.
It should be noted that the materials of the boxes are recycled, recyclable and come from certified sustainable resources:
Reducing the impact on global warming
Global warming indicators show a lower CO2 impact, between 21% and 31%, compared to other packaging audited by EPD System. This is mainly due to the use of recycled raw materials or reusable materials and the reduced tare weight which optimises transport.
We optimise packaging
Our products reduce the amount of raw materials consumed in packaging by 76% compared to traditional solutions. This significant reduction is achieved through the use of recycled materials and efficient production processes, which not only minimise waste, but also reinforce our commitment to sustainability and environmental protection.
We avoid losses of the transported product
It avoids product losses compared to traditional solutions due to its robustness and resistance during transport. In traditional systems the percentage of lost product is around 30%; with GB this percentage is practically zero.
Savings in transport and logistics
Savings on replacements
Green Box serves as an in-store display. This avoids re-packaging, improves sales and contributes to better product turnover by being in more visible locations.
Less effort is made, following AECOC recommendations on the heights of palletised load units.
