WHAT IS THE EDP?
An Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) is a transparent, objective external auditor’s report that communicates comparable and quantifiable information based on ISO guidelines on how a product impacts the environment across its entire life cycle.
A product certified under the International EPD System is synonymous with quality, safety and credibility and guarantees that you are working with a company with a sustainable system committed to the planet.

SCOPE OF THE CERTIFICATE
GreenBox provides 3 sustainable packaging formats: G50 (80 kg), G70 (120 kg) and G100 (180/220 kg). They have been analysed individually taking all GreenBox’s domestic and international assembly centres and collaborators into account.
It should be noted that the materials in the boxes are recycled, recyclable and come from certified sustainable resources:

100% POLYPROPYLENE PALLET

RECYCLED WOOD FROM PEFC-CERTIFIED PLANTATIONS

CARDBOARD FROM RECYCLED FSC-CERTIFIED PAPER

LESS IMPACT ON GLOBAL WARMING
Global warming indicators show that GreenBox sustainable products have a 21% to 31% lower CO2 impact compared to other packaging audited by the EPD System. This is mainly due to the use of recycled or reusable raw materials and the lower laden weight of the transport vehicles.
PACKAGE OPTIMISATION
Our products reduce the amount of raw materials consumed in packaging by 76% compared to other traditional solutions.

AVOIDS LOSS OF TRANSPORTED PRODUCE
Our packaging prevents product losses compared to traditional solutions due to its strength and robustness during transport. The percentage of produce lost in transport with GB is practically zero, compared to around 30% for traditional systems.
SAVINGS IN TRANSPORT/LOGISTICS
GreenBox has the best tare/load ratio on the market. Simplifying the task of packing and palletizing (without bottom or intermediate pallets) means a saving of 10% in transport costs with the resulting reduction in environmental impact.
It favours ventilation of the product, thus helping to maintain the ideal temperature and reducing energy consumption.

SAVINGS IN REPLENISHMENT
GreenBox acts as an in-store display. This avoids repackaging, improves sales and contributes to better product turnover by improving product visibility.
Following the AECOC recommendations on the height of palletised load units this translates into lower efforts for personnel.

RECYCLING USED MATERIAL
Thanks to the wide packaging network available throughout Europe, GreenBox is able to reuse and recycle an outstanding percentage of material in good condition.
Another advantage over traditional solutions is the return of used material for recycling. While other systems such as the plastic pool have a return rate of 1:3 (1 truckload of dismantled material equals 3 assembled), GreenBox achieves a return ratio of 1:10, which dramatically reduces transport of the used material for recycling.

IMPROVEMENTS IMPLEMENTED FOR THE FUTURE
GreenBox is not resting on its laurels. After the Environmental Product Declaration certification we continue working to improve the achieved data. The following are some of the improvements implemented as a result of the EDP:

PROCESS OPTIMIZATION

ENERGY EFFICIENCY

NEW LOCAL SUPPLIERS

REARRANGEMENT OF ASSEMBLY CENTRES

RENOVATION OF LOGISTICS FLEET
